Writing a book is a daunting prospect and a huge achievement. Sometimes a writer might need help from a professional editor to get some perspective on their work. I specialize in structural editing for fiction, non-fiction and memoir, which can involve looking at characterization, narrative style, tone, plot, the themes and theses explored. I also provide other editorial services, including copy-editing and proofreading.
I have worked as an editor since graduating in English Literature from Cambridge University over twenty-five years ago.
Please get in touch to discuss what kind of help you need and I can suggest a plan for you. My fees are based on standard industry rates provided by the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, of which I am a Professional Member. To begin with, I usually offer a report on the first 10,000 words so you can see whether what I have to say makes sense. It can then inform redrafting the work before you resubmit.
My background is in illustrated art books, fiction, general non-fiction and children’s books. I offer structural editing and rewriting, copy-editing and proofreading. For academic titles, my specialist areas are English Literature, History, Psychotherapy and Social Sciences.
